Make Your Mark Global goes into the dark places that people don’t want to think about. Children being abused physically, emotionally and sexually hurts our heart. Children being kidnapped, sold and exploited for unthinkable acts, angers us.

This is why for over the past decade Make Your Mark has tirelessly gone into these dark places to defend these children. We strive to restore them to what all children primarily need, a childhood with family and hope for a bright future.

MAKE YOUR MARK centers

We have safe houses where children and girls from the streets can feel protected, loved and just be children. They begin a journey towards healing as we walk with them through their traumas, pain and sufferings. It’s a beautiful process as they find their true purpose in this world.

We take a holistic approach in developing each child in 5 areas; Physical, Emotional, Social, Educational and Spiritual.

REINTERGRATION

The best place for any child is with their birth families. Reconciliation & Reintegration is the main goal for each child.

We take our time to ensure that the child is ready to return, the home is a safe place and the family is prepared to receive the child. Once the child is returned home we provide 6-months income generating resources and there is close follow-up to ensure he stays home.

PLF Homes

Family Based Care

Some children can’t return home due to safety concerns and enter MYM family homes. To accomplish our vision we provide a family environment to begin to going to school, teach them responsibility, house chores, play in the neighborhood; our goal is to have them prepared to lead their future family and communities.

Kalkidan Center

Empowering Young woman

The Kalkidan Center is named after the founders daughter who was born in the streets of Ethiopia. Kalkidan means promise and it’s MYM’s promise to protect the girls from further exploitation and set them on a new path filled with hope and purpose.

The girls are age 16-24 years old with a goal to build them up into empowered young women/mothers who are self-reliant and ready to conquer the world.

KEEPING KIDS HOME INITIATIVE

We go to the source of the problem of children in the streets and come alongside impoverished families to provide the needed resources to keep their children at home and not in the streets. We provide full educational, counseling, and spiritual needs for the child. Our long term goal is to provide specific business training and seed money to the parents, to empower them to be self-sustaining. We also provide family counseling and teach God-centered family values to strengthen the family’s core.

Mobilize

Empowering Ethiopians to Care for Orphans

In collaboration with the DEBO Alliance, (a network MYM help found), over the last five years has held an annual Orphan Summit with an average of 600 attendees. This is where Ethiopian leaders, pastors and families come to learn about how they can be the solution for the orphans in Ethiopia. There is a heavy emphasis on domestic adoption and foster care at the summits. MYM also provides small workshops throughout the year to the local church hoping for orphan care to be a mainstream teaching in the church.

THE POST FAMILY HOME

MYM founders Trent and Carmen Post have fostered 15 children during their time in Ethiopia. While they say it had its challenges, they wouldn’t trade it for the world. Today, they have their own careers, families and are thriving in their relationship with God.
