MYM believes that youth and families and families deserve to be believed in and encouraged toward lives of purpose. MYM partners with local volunteers, churches, and non profits to provide the resources needed to break physical, relational and spiritual poverty.
This is where MYM started, on the third Saturday of every month we meet at the Wilmore Community Center and feed around 30-35 kids a full-course breakfast. After breakfast we have group discussion on real life topics while bringing biblical truth to the issue. We finish off the day with various games or serving opportunities.
WEEKLY GROUP MENTORING
Once a week we have in -depth conversations about real life issues with 13-18 year- olds. This is where we really start to dig deeper to reveal the lies that this world tells our kids. We give them encouragement and the spiritual tools needed to overcome their circumstances. This is a good place to start building solid relationships with our youth. The young ladies are the JC’s Divas and the young men are S.O.S (Soldiers of Success).
Serve as a mentor to a same-sex MYM participant ranging from age 9 to 18. Form a consistent relationship with a child who needs a continual voice of truth in his or her life. Provide support as a role-model for growth during their character development stages. While this is one of the most challenging areas to serve, it becomes most impactful in a child’s life as they begin to trust the mentor and to open up about real-life struggles that are too personal to be shared in a group session with their peers.
